IU's middle-distance group will be full of returning veterans and fresh faces in the 2023 season. 12 runners between the men's and women's sides will comprise a group eager to make an impact in the Big Ten this season.

Elizabeth Stanhope | Sr. | Indianapolis, Ind.
Â
The 2019 IHSAA State Champion at 800 meters enters her fourth season with the Hoosiers. After missing the entire 2020-21 season, she responded to run at the Big Ten Indoor and Outdoor Championships.
Â
She was a member of the 4x400 relay team that scored at the Big Ten's Outdoor Meet and narrowly missed the final in the 800 meters at the indoor meet.
Â
The Indianapolis native owns collegiate personal bests of 1:30.61 at 600 meters and 2:07.87 at 800 meters.

Maddie Russin | Jr. | Crown Point, Ind.
Â
Also, an IHSAA State Champion at 800 meters, Russin will look to put injuries behind her heading into the 2023 season.
Â
In the season opener, Russin ran 2:50.29 across 1000 meters and owns a collegiate personal best at 2:11.17 from the 2021 Big Ten Indoor Championships.
Â
She has competed in six meets to date for the Hoosiers heading into her third season.

Maria Anderson | Sr. | Noblesville, Ind.
Â
A three-time state qualifier in the 400 meters, Anderson has the ability to run across most of the middle distances.
Â
She enjoyed a strong junior season that saw her finish third at the Big Ten Indoor Championships at 600 meters.
Â
Anderson will likely have the chance to play a role in the 4x400 relay at some point this season as well.

Jenna Barker | Gr. | Richmond, Ind.
Â
The most veteran member of the group, Barker has run Track and Field and Cross Country for the Hoosiers since 2018.
Â
She's competed at every Big Ten Championship meet since 2019 and scored in the Distance Medley Relay in both 2020 and 2021.
During the 2021 season, she advanced to the NCAA East Prelims in the 1500 meters after scoring in the mile at the 2021 Big Ten Indoor Championships.

Barker owns personal bests of 2:09.70 (800m), 4:21.52 (1500m) and 9:30.55 (3000m).

Shynae Deas | Sr. | Gahanna, Ohio
Â
Heading into her senior season, Deas has competed at three Big Ten Championship meets.
Â
She scored as part of the 4x400 relay at the Big Ten Indoor Championships in the 2022 season.
Â
Deas owns personal bests of 1:31.68 (600m) and 2:09.72 (800m).

Camden Marshall | So. | Corydon, Ind.
Â
Marshall enjoyed a stellar freshman season and has parlayed that into an outstanding start for his sophomore campaign.
Â
He ran Cross Country this season and finished 24th at the Big Ten Championships and 32nd at the Great Lakes Regional.
Â
During the 2022 season, Marshall won the Big Ten Indoor Championship at 800 meters and was part of the winning Sprint Medley Relay team at the Penn Relays.
Â
He also ran with the Distance Medley Relay team that qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships and broke the school record in 9:22.78.
Â
During his high school season, he won the IHSAA State Title at 1600 meters.
Â
He owns personal bests of 1:48.57 (800m), 3:42.20 (1500m) and 4:02.80 (Mile). He also owns the school record at 1000 meters with a mark of 2:21.64.

Parker Raymond | Sr. | Rochester Hills, Mich.
Â
Like Marshall, Raymond played a huge role in the success of the Distance Medley Relay team in 2022. He ran the 800-meter leg in a team that finished second in the Big Ten, broke the school record and finished 10th in the Big Ten Conference.
Â
During the 2021 season he finished sixth in the Big Ten at 600 meters and competed in the 800 meters at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
Â
He owns personal bests of 1:17.63 (600m) and 1:48.07 (800m) during his collegiate career.

Reece Proctor | Sr. | Piedmont, Calif.
Â
He competed in the 800 meters at the Big Ten Indoor and Outdoor Championships in 2022 and owns personal bests of 1:51.79 (800m) and 3:52.01 (1500m).

Nick Couyoumjian | Sr. | Northville, Mich.
Â
A veteran in the group as well, he has scored at consecutive Big Ten Indoor Champions in the 800 meters and then the Distance Medley Relay.
Â
He owns personal bests of 1:24.58 (600m), 1:50.00 (800m) and 4:08.72 (Mile).

Jaylen Castillo | So. | Fishers, Ind.
Â
To this date has competed in five meets for the Hoosiers. He made his Cross Country debut in 2022 after appearing in four track meets last season.

Keefer Soehngen | So. | Noblesville, Ind.
Â
He made his collegiate debut at the Hoosier Open in the 500 meters with a mark of 1:05.10. He also ran a leg on the 4x400 relay team that finished first in 3:21.40.
Â
Soehngen finished third in the 400 meters at the 2022 IHSAA State Championships and also ran a leg for Fishers' state-winning 4x400 team.

Nico Colchico | Fr. | Long Beach, Calif.

Enters his freshman season in Bloomington and has yet to compete.
