BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana softball head coach Shonda Stanton announces Ella Carter as a member of the 2023 signing day class.
"Throughout the recruiting process, Ella presented herself as one of the most mature and coachable athletes I have encountered," Stanton said. "Her size, athleticism and power are a match with our focused effort to increase offensive production. We are proud to add Ella to our exciting and accomplished 2023 class.
Ella Carter
IF | New York, N.Y. | Poly Prep Country Day School / Cheshire Academy
An infielder from New York, Carter will join the Hoosiers 2023 signing class. She attended Poly Prep Country Day School before attending Chesire Academy. She is a three-time First Team All-Ivy Prep League honoree. Carter is a four-year letterwinner and was the team captain her senior year.
In 2022, Carter was named the team's MVP, posting a .683 batting average, 11 home runs, 41 RBI's and 28 runs. She was also named. She played ball with the Indiana Magic Gold-Green.
Carter plans to major in Business management at Indiana. She is the daughter of Corie Beardsley and Lawrence Carter. Her father was also a collegiate athlete and played basketball for the University of Maryland.
Why IU?
"From the second I stepped on campus I could feel the unique energy and warmth of the environment. In meeting and getting to know Coaches Stanton, Bell, Clopton, Jenkins, Cassie and the rest of the IU softball staff, that feeling was amplified. It was easy for me to see that Bloomington was exactly the place that I needed to be and that this culture was one I needed to be a part of. Every aspect of IU excited me as much as the next, and I can't wait to be a Hoosier!"
