No. 14 Indiana Splits Pair At UCSB Winter Invite

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – No. 14 Indiana split a pair of games at the UCSB Winter Invite on Saturday afternoon at Campus Pool. The Hoosiers picked up a win over No. 11 UC San Diego (12-10) before falling to tournament host No. 19 UC Santa Barbara (13-10).

KEY MOMENTS
- The Hoosiers started off the day on a strong note, defeating #11 UC San Diego, 12-10, in the first matchup on Saturday.
- Senior Robyn Greenslade and sophomore Skylar Kidd scored three goals each for the Hoosiers in the victory. The game was tied 2-2 after the first with goals from Greenslade and Kidd as Indiana was able to lay three on in the second to take a 5-3 halftime edge.
- Back-to-back goals from Kidd in the third gave her team a three-goal lead, 8-5, with 4:03 remaining. The Tritons would respond and come within one late in the frame before senior Zoe Crouch put one in the back of the net. Greenslade added her third and final goal of the game with 6:08 to go in the fourth to go up three goals again. IU would hold on to a two-goal lead the entire final period to secure the win.
- In a battle against the hosts #19 Gauchos, Indiana took a 4-2 early lead after one where sophomore Grace Hathaway had two goals. But the lead wasn't secure for long as UCSB took over in the second quarter and never looked back, posting a 7-5 lead at half and increasing its lead to four at the end of the third.
- IU battled to the very end, as it got two late goals in the fourth, but couldn't overcome the attack from UCSB and falling 13-10.
NOTES
- Six different Hoosiers scored in the win over UC San Diego including three each from Greenslade and Kidd. Also scoring were Crouch (2), Olivia Stark (1) and Nicole Tyner (1).
- Against the Gauchos, six different players got on the board led by three from Sollie and Debow and Hathaway each with a pair of goals.
- Kidd led the way with two assists while Greenslade, Debow, senior Sophie Wazzan all recorded assists.
- The Hoosiers went 50 percent on powerplays and shot 45.5 percent against UCSB.
- Indiana is now 1-2, 0-1 MPSF on the season.
