BLOOMINGTON, Ind. ––––– The 2023 Indiana Men's Tennis recruiting class earned significant national recognition Monday morning.
The Hoosiers' incoming class was ranked No. 14 out of all NCAA Division I Men's Tennis programs by Tennis Recruiting Network.
Indiana's 2023 class features Liam Drover-Mattinen and Facundo Yunis, two international players who will begin competing for IU this fall.
Drover-Mattinen is a highly accomplished player from Portugal Cove in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. The most recent individual rankings have earned him a No. 19 standing from Tennis Recruiting Network and No. 75 on ITF.
Yunis joined the Hoosiers for the spring semester but will compete until the fall. He is from Munich, Germany, and is the first German player to represent the Cream and Crimson since the 2009-10 season. He was ranked as the No. 70 player in the ITF's singles rankings most recently.
The combination of Drover-Mattinen and Yunis earned Indiana 235 points on the Tennis Recruiting Network's class rating system, giving the No. 14 overall recruiting class rank.
The Hoosiers had the second-highest rated class of any team in the Big Ten. Ohio State was the only conference opponent that had a higher ranking, as their class was considered No. 10 in the country by TRN.
