BIG TEN WEEKEND RECAP

With less than a month until the Big Ten Indoor Championships in Geneva, Ohio, the conference's best athletes are rounding into form to fight for a title at the end of February.

The Hoosiers have welcomed back nearly every athlete so far this season including the likes of Sarah Schmitt who made a full debut at the Indiana Relays.
Â
Jake Gebhardt added a Big Ten-leading time at 3000 meters (7:52.97) to pair with Nathan Stone's conference-leading mark of 5.40m in the Pole Vault.

The Hoosiers have yet to see its full-strength DMR teams run this season and welcome the prospect of a big distance weekend in two weeks at the Windy City Invite in Chicago.

Its top throwers and jumpers have put on a show so far this season with the sprints group ready for a big weekend at the Meyo Invitational at Notre Dame.

The Women's Long Jumpers rank No. 2 in the USTFCCCA Event Squad Rankings with an average mark of 5.98m/19-7.5. Three athletes have been out over six meters this year.

The Hoosiers finished out the month of January with some big performances at the Indiana Relays and Texas Tech Open.

Jake Gebhardt (7:52.97) and Jenna Barker (9:21.64) threw down big personal bests to win the 3000 meters. Gebhardt's time was a Big Ten-leading time while Barker ran the third-best mark in the conference.

Sarah Schmitt ran her first race since the NCAA Cross Country National Championships with a 4:45.71 Mile to match her personal best.
Â
Antonio Laidler (21.14) and Alyssa Robinson (23.84) both moved into No. 3 in program history across 200 meters with big indoor personal bests on Friday night.
Â
Jayden Ulrich threw a big lifetime best in the Shot Put with a mark of 17.53m/57-6.25 to move into No. 4 in school history. Her mark currently sits No. 5 in the NCAA this year.

Paola Fernandez-Sola jumped out to a huge personal best in the Long Jump at 6.39m/20-11.75 at the Texas Tech Open. Hope Purcell jumped six meters for the first time in her career with a mark of 6.09m/19-11.75.

Parker Raymond made his season debut at 800 meters with a personal best of 1:49.98. Maddie Russin ran 2:10.91 in her 800-meter season debut.

Men's 3000 Meters
• Four runners have gone under eight minutes this year including Indiana's Jake Gebhardt who ran a Big Ten-leading 7:52.97 at the Indiana Relays.

Women's Long Jump
• Nebraska's Lishanna Ilves and Indiana's Paola Fernandez-Sola jumped 6.48m and 6.39m respectively at the Texas Tech Open and lead a strong contingent of jumpers in the conference.

• Five athletes have run under four minutes including IU's Jake Gebhardt and Camden Marshall.
