BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Sophomore outside hitter Candela Alonso-Corcelles went for a career-high 18 kills, hitting .390 on the night, as the Indiana Volleyball team (15-6, 5-3) won a third-consecutive match in a dominating victory over Michigan.
The Hoosiers hit a collective .330 as a team (41-8-100), dominating the visiting Wolverines in straight sets (25-10, 25-20, 25-12). The 42 points conceded to Michigan matches the fewest ever given up to a Big Ten opponent (42 in 2010 at Wisconsin) under the current scoring format which went into place in 2008.
IU committed just eight attacking errors on the night, the fewest in a Big Ten match since recording just six in a win at Wisconsin in 2010. IU hit .417 or better in both the first and third sets while holding the visitors under .100 offensively in all three sets.
Head coach Steve Aird and crew are 15-6 on the seasons, the quickest IU has been to 15 wins since 2010 (21 games). The Hoosiers are 5-3 in the Big Ten, alone in fourth place, for the first time since 1993.
Next up for IU is a rematch with top-20 and in-state Purdue in West Lafayette. The Hoosiers won the first part of the season series last Wednesday in Bloomington.
