Hoosiers Kick Off Midseason in Thursday Prelims

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Indiana opened its midseason meet at the Ohio State Invitational with five Olympic trial cuts and 27 personal bests.
Fifty-two Hoosier swimmers qualified for finals Thursday night, including 18 in A finals. Junior Anna Peplowski was the top qualifier in the 400-meter freestyle with an Olympic Trial cut and personal best 4:12.80, while sophomore teammate Kristina Paegle dropped the best in the 50 free with a 25.17, also an Olympic cut and personal best for her.
Five Hoosier men qualified for the A final in the 200 IM, and three - Luke Barr (2:00.98), Toby Barnett (2:02.35) and Jassen Yep (2:03.00) were under the Olympic Trials qualifying time. Eight Hoosiers had personal bests in the IM.
Junior Skyler Liu was the top qualifier on the women's 3-meter springboard, winning the prelim by 46.70 points. Fellow junior Morgan Casey came fifth with a 259.85. Sophomores Dash Glasberg (272.80) and William Jansen (272.30) competed on the men's 1-meter springboard, placing 14th and 15th.
