BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - One of the most well-regarded freshman prospects in the country, libero Ramsey Gary lived up to the hype in her first season in Bloomington.
She's wore the libero jersey in every contest for the Hoosiers this season and helped IU to match its most wins in a regular season (21) in program history. She led the Big Ten with 530 digs and finished well ahead of any other freshmen in the conference in both categories.
Nationally, she ranks just as high among freshman liberos. She is first among NCAA Power Five freshmen in digs and third among all NCAA freshman in the same category.
During Big Ten play, Gary averaged 4.59 digs per set with 363 overall. She had a run of seven-straight matches with 20+ digs, the longest of any IU player in program history under the current 25-point scoring format. Her 363 digs were the most in a single Big Ten season (20 games) in program history.
She had 10 total matches with 20+ digs, the most by any IU player in a single season in program history. On 31 occasions, she went for 10+ digs, the most in a season in program history. The only two matches she didn't were dominant offensive performances from IU against Radford and Stetson.
She holds a career high of 26 digs, set in a match against Ohio State in the middle of October. That total matched IU's single-game freshman digs record during the rally era. She holds IU's freshman single-season digs record and IU's all-time single season digs record with 530.
Ramsey's Resume:
10+ dig matches: 31 (most in single season in program history)
20+ dig matches: 10 (most in single season in program history)
530 digs (leads Big Ten)
IU Single Game Freshman Digs Record (26)
IU Single Season Freshman Digs Record (530)
