• Indiana (6-1, 1-0) defeated Maryland (4-4, 0-1), 65-53, in the Big Ten opener Friday night in Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.
• Indiana leads the all-time series, 13-9.
• The Hoosiers are 3-0 in Big Ten home openers under head coach Mike Woodson.
• IU held Maryland to 20-of-56 (35.7%) shooting from the field and 2-of-16 (12.5%) from three.
• Indiana outscored Maryland 40-26 in the paint.
• Indiana held the lead the entire game with their biggest lead being 23 points.
• Sophomore center Kel'el Ware recorded his third career double-double with 18 points on 8-of-12 shooting and a career-high in rebounds (14). Ware also added one assist and one block.

• Sophomore forward Kaleb Banks recorded two points and three rebounds, two assists, and one block.
• Sophomore guard CJ Gunn scored two points while adding three steals and one assist in 15 minutes of action.
• Junior forward Payton Sparks posted one point and four rebounds in six minutes of action.
• Freshman guard Gabe Cupps had two steals and one rebound in 23 minutes.
• Senior guard Anthony Leal notched one rebound and one assist in seven minutes off the bench.
