BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Top Drawer Soccer released its postseason "Best XI" and Top 100 lists Monday (Dec. 18), which, in total, honored four Hoosiers for their performances during the 2023 season.
Three Hoosiers featured in Top Drawer Soccer's Postseason Top 100 player rankings: senior defender Hugo Bacharach (No. 30), junior forward Samuel Sarver (43) and senior defender Joey Maher (77). The TDS Postseason Top 100 Freshmen ranking is expected to be announced later this week.
Bacharach appeared again among the TDS postseason awards, receiving third-team Best XI honors. Forward Collins Oduro made the freshman Best XI list.
Bacharach showed his versatility during his first season at Indiana, tallying four goals and four assists. His shift from defense to midfield in the Oct. 7 match at Penn State helped spark Indiana's late-season rally, winning 12 of its last 14 matches to capture the Big Ten regular season and tournament titles and advancing to the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals. He was a second-team All-Big Ten selection and made the Big Ten All-Tournament team.
Sarver captured United Soccer Coaches third-team All-America honors as IU's leading producer during the 2023 season with eight goals and six assists, totaling 22 points – all career-highs. His five goals in conference play tied for the league's best mark.
Maher was a first-team All-Big Ten and first-team All-North Region selection in his senior season, captaining the Hoosiers to an Elite Eight appearance and nine clean sheets, which ranked tied for 10th nationally. He scored two goals and had one assist.
Oduro tallied 12 points during his first season in cream and crimson from five goals and two assists. Three of his goals were match-winners, including the lone goal in IU's 1-0 win at No. 7 national seed Virginia in the NCAA Tournament Round of 16. Oduro was also a Big Ten All-Freshman Team selection.
