BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Indiana men's soccer forward Collins Oduro and defender Alex Barger were highly ranked in Top Drawer Soccer's Postseason Top 100 Freshmen list this week. Oduro was steady from his midseason ranking at No. 13, while Barger entered the ranking at No. 26.
Both players were fixtures in IU's starting XI during their first season – Oduro was one of two players (senior captain JT Harms) to start all 24 matches, and Barger started 23 – only missing the match against NCAA Division-III opponent Trine.
Oduro also earned a Top Drawer Soccer Freshman Best XI selection on Monday. The Bibiani, Ghana, native tallied 12 points during his first season in cream and crimson from five goals and two assists. Three of his goals were match-winners, including the lone goal in IU's 1-0 win at No. 7 national seed Virginia in the NCAA Tournament Round of 16. Oduro was also a Big Ten All-Freshman Team selection.
Barger tallied a goal and assist as the lone underclassman in IU's regular back-line, playing the left back position. Indiana's defense kept nine clean sheets; ranking tied for 10th nationally.
