IRVINE, Calif. – No. 11 Indiana dropped its opener at the Barbara Kalbus Invitational 5-3 to No. 7 Arizona State.

KEY MOMENTS

Graduate student goalie Mary Askew helped pace the game early with four saves to keep the game scoreless. Arizona State scored first followed by a goal at even strength by freshman Nicole Tyner to knot the game up at 1-1 after the first.
The second started off with Kidd winning the sprint and Indiana took nine shots but came up empty on all as it saw the Sun Devils take a 3-1 lead at the break.
After Arizona State went up three goals, the Hoosiers called for a timeout and senior Zoe Crouch scored on the man up opportunity following to make it 4-2 with 3:38 to play.
IU came up empty in the third, trailing 5-2. In the fourth, the Hoosiers defense held ASU scoreless as junior Sophie Wazzan added one late in the frame.

NOTES

Goals were scored by Tyner, Crouch and Wazzan.
Askew made 11 saves and had two steals.
Seniors Kallie White and Lanna Debow tallied a team-high five shot attempts each.
Sophomore Olivia Stark, sophomore Skylar Kidd and senior Robyn Greenslade each recorded a steal.
Indiana's record moves to 12-5.
