
Hoosier Fall at Kentucky

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Indiana baseball team dropped a 12-2 decision to Kentucky on Wednesday (March 14) at Kentucky Proud Park in a seven-inning contest.
Kentucky (15-2) scored three in the second inning to grab the early lead, before Indiana (10-7) got one run back in the top of the third. A UK run in the bottom of the third was followed by a single IU run in the fourth to make it a 4-2 game. The Wildcats would finish off the run-rule victory with one run in the fifth, six in the sixth and one in the seventh.
Four different Hoosier hitters collected hits in the game with freshman Devin Taylor and redshirt senior Matthew Ellis each collecting doubles. Ellis and senior Hunter Jessee each drove in RBIs, while Taylor and sophomore Evan Goforth each scored runs.
Graduate student Gabe Levy (0-2) took the loss with three runs – two earned – allowed on one walk over 1 1/3 innings of work in the start.
Hunter Gilliam posted a 3-for-4 day at the plate with five RBIs for Kentucky and Devin Burkes scored three runs and was on base four times. Emilien Pitre and Grant Smith each chipped in two-hit games with two RBIs apiece.
