LOS ANGELES, Calif. – No. 19 Indiana fell in its MPSF matchup at No. 2 USC (16-4) before rebounding in the night cap at Whittier (25-2) in action on Saturday.

KEY MOMENTS

Freshman Louisa Downes got Indiana on the board in the first after USC opened the game up with three unanswered goals. The host Trojans carried a 5-1 lead after one as IU got just one goal in the second off a 6-on-5 opportunity as sophomore Sophia Sollie found the back of the net on a dish from senior Lanna Debow.
Indiana trailed 9-2 at the break and got on the board first in the third with a natural goal from senior Zoe Crouch. But the Trojan attack was too much for the Hoosiers to withstand as it would eventually fall 16-4.
Four straight goals got things started for IU against Whittier, as it took a 7-1 lead after the first period. By halftime, freshman Nicole Tyner had a hattrick and 12 different Hoosiers were on the board as it took a 15-2 lead at the break.
In all, 15 total players scored goals including seven who had multiple goals as Indiana came away with a season-high 25 goals in the victory.

NOTES

Indiana moves to 14-11 on the season and 0-3 in MPSF play.
Downes, Crouch and Sollie each recorded goals against USC.
IU scored a season-high 25 goals against Whittier.
Freshman Nicole Tyner led the way against the Poets with four goals. Freshman Grace Klingler also recorded a hattrick.
