BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Another midweek test arrives for the Indiana baseball program, this time in the form of a visit to Bart Kaufman Field by Ball State on Tuesday (April 11). First pitch between the in-state foes is slated for 6 p.m.
Indiana (22-10, 7-2 B1G) claimed a series win over Iowa at home last weekend to move into sole possession of first place in the Big Ten. It was the fifth straight weekend series win for the Hoosiers, third in Big Ten play. Ball State (23-8, 10-2 MAC) is also along atop its conference standings but took a step out of Mid-American Conference play to face off with The Citadel last weekend with a 2-1 series win.

Scouting the Opponent
- Ball State has posted a winning record in seven of eight tries, including a 2-1 series win at The Citadel last weekend to move its record to 23-8 overall. The Cardinals are also 10-2 in Mid-American Conference play.
- Entering its fifth midweek game of the season, Ball State is a perfect 4-0 in midweek tilts, its last win a 12-3 victory over Bellarmine in Muncie, Indiana.
- The pitching staff ranks No. 21 nationally in hits per nine inning (7.7) and No. 30 strikeouts per nine innings (10.3), while the Cardinals field at a .980 clip to sit No. 17 in the NCAA on the season.
- Ryan Peltier is among the national leaders in a bevy of offensive categories, including batting average (No. 28; .413), Hits (No. 24; 50), runs scored (No. 8; 43) and doubles (No. 26; 13).
- In the Ball State bullpen, Sam Klein leads the way with a 0.66 ERA in 13 2/3 innings of work, while every pitcher to log at least 20 innings has 24-plus strikeouts.

- Indiana is 35-26 all-time against Ball State entering the 62nd all-time meeting between the two programs.
- Tuesday's meeting will mark the 30th all-time between the two programs in Bloomington, with IU leading 17-12 in the previous 29 meetings.
- Indiana has posted nine straight wins in the series dating back to 2014 and won 12 of the last 13 meetings going all the way back to 2010.
