Hoosiers in the Hunt After 36 Holes

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana men's golf team shot a 591 (298-293; +23) on day one of the Hoosier Collegiate at The Pfau Golf Course after 36 holes of play on Saturday.
No. 49 Chattanooga (584; +16) leads the field, followed by Indiana. Illinois State (595; +27), Valparaiso (596; +28), and Dayton (596; +28) round out the top five of the field.

• Fifth-year senior Thomas Hursey, playing as an individual, is tied for second after shooting a 143 (71-72; +1) through two rounds. The Ferris State transfer played an ever-par 71 in the opening round with birdies on No. 1, No. 7, and No. 13. His second round of 72 (+1) was very steady with 13 pars and back-to-back birdies on No. 4 and No. 5.
• Junior Drew Salyers played a scorecard of 145 (73-72; +3) during Saturday's action. Salyers knocked down a team-high four birdie tries scattered throughout the first round. He shot a 2-over 73 in the morning round. He closed the second round with three birdies on the back nine to finish at 72 (+1).
• Senior Eric Berggren finished the opening day at 147 (76-71; +5). Berggren played two birdies (No. 13, No. 18) to score a 5-over 76 in his debut round of the tournament. He played a team-best 14 pars in the second round to go along with birdies on No. 7 and No. 9 to close the day at 71 (E).
• Fifth-year senior Mitch Davis turned in a two-round scorecard of 149 (74-75; +7)on day one. Davis saw an eagle on No. 1 and a birdie on No. 13 in his opening round of 3-over 74. His second round of 75 (+4) included a trio of birdies.
• Senior Noah Gillard played his 36 holes at 150 (75-75; +8). Gillard saw one birdie drop (No. 14) in his opening round of 4-over 75. His second round of 75 (+4) consisted of a birdie on No. 1.
• Fifth-year senior Harry Reynolds played a scorecard of 155 (78-77; +13) to open the tournament. Reynolds carded 11 pars on his way to a 7-over 78 in the first round. His first birdie of the day came on No. 3 of his second round 77 (+6).
• Junior Robbie Bender III, playing as an individual, ended the first day of the Hoosier Collegiate with a scorecard reading 159 (78-81; +17). Bender played a 7-over 78 in the morning round with birdies on No. 13 and No. 17. He carded one birdie in the second round to shoot an 81 (+10).
