Baseball Gameday: host Purdue

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.– Week 13 of the college baseball season brings the final regular season home weekend series to Bart Kaufman Field for Indiana baseball in the form of Purdue. The two teams will kick off the second to last weekend of conference play at 6 p.m. on Friday (May 12).
After a nice midweek win at Xavier, Indiana (35-14) looks for a sixth winning weekend in conference play, while Purdue (23-24) will look to rebound from a midweek loss at UIC and improve on a 4-5 record in conference road games in 2023.

- Senior Day Saturday is Bark In The Park: IU will honor its senior class in a pregame ceremony. Fans are also allowed to bring dogs into Bart Kaufman Field. Any fan who brings their dog is required to sign a waiver to allow their dog into the stadium. Waivers will be located and collected at the marketing table.
- Sunday is Baseball Bingo and Kids Run the Bases/Postgame Autographs: Bingo cards are available at the marketing table with prizes from Bucceto's. After the game, all kids 12 and under are invited to come down to the field and run the bases.

Scouting the Opponents
- Purdue enters the weekend with a 23-24 overall record but sit at 10-8 in Big Ten play. The Boilermakers were out of conference last weekend versus South Dakota State and won the series 2-1.
- The Boilermakers have won four of six weekend series to this point, including a series at Minnesota and versus Rutgers.
- Junior Paul Toetz leads the team in hits (56), doubles (13), home runs (9), RBIs (49) and total bases (100). His .581 slugging percentage paces the team, as well, while a .326 batting average ranks No. 2 on the squad.
- The Boilermakers lead the Big Ten in stolen bases (94) and hit-by-pitch (86).
- On the mound, all three primary starting pitchers own batting averages against of .290 or lower. Khal Stephen leads the group with a .224 BAA to go along with a team-best 58 strikeouts in 66 1/3 innings.

- Since 1940, Indiana owns a 72-54 record against Purdue at home, with a 12-2 mark on Bart Kaufman Field. The Hoosiers have not lost a Big Ten series to the Boilermakers in the venue's history.
- The Hoosiers own four straight home series wins over Purdue. The last series loss at home came in 2010 at Sembower Field, when the Boilermakers won two of three games.
