BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Eight former Indiana men's soccer student-athletes are eligible to participate when the MLS All-Stars take on Premier League Club Arsenal on Wednesday, July 19, on Audi Field in Washington, D.C.
Fans can vote for their favorite MLS Hoosiers once per day. Indiana men's soccer is represented in six of the seven position groups, with a breakdown below.
MLS All-Star Game | Eligible Hoosiers
Forward: Will Bruin (Austin FC), Justin Rennicks (New England Revolution)
Defensive Midfielder: Aidan Morris (Columbus Crew)
Left Back: Andrew Gutman (Atlanta United)
Right Back: Griffin Dorsey (Houston Dynamo), Tommy Thompson (San Jose Earthquakes)
Center Back: Jack Maher (Nashville SC)
Goalkeeper: Roman Celentano (FC Cincinnati)
Going into Matchday 17, FC Cincinnati goalkeeper Roman Celentano leads the Eastern Conference with eighth clean sheets. Celentano and FCC head coach Pat Noonan have helped the club become the first team in MLS history to reach 39 points in their first 16 games of a season, excluding the shootout era.
Just behind FCC, Nashville SC sits second in the Eastern Conference, anchored in defense by Jack Maher. Now in his fourth season with the club, Maher is one of three players to start all 16 matches for Nashville this year. Nashville has allowed just 11 goals, the best defensive record in the conference, while collecting six clean sheets — a career-high single-season mark for Maher.
One of two players to start all 16 matches for a trending Columbus side, Aidan Morris has been the heart of the Crew midfield this season. The 21-year-old ranks second in MLS in tackles won (37), tied-for-eighth in interceptions (28) and fourth in accurate pass percentage (92.5 - min. 50 percent games played). Both he and Celentano were part of the United States Men's National Team rosters in January and April.
Andrew Gutman has scored two goals and provided four assists from his left back position. Atlanta sits fifth in the league through 17 games played.
