Cream Sweeps Crimson in Preseason Scrimmage

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Fans returned to Wilkinson Hall on Saturday (August 19th) afternoon for the Indiana volleyball team's annual Cream and Crimson Scrimmage.
A first look at the 2023 squad didn't disappoint as the Hoosiers played three competitive sets in a final preparation for next week's regular season opener. Cream defeated Crimson 3-0 (25-19, 25-16, 17-15) in front of a great crowd of fans.
Teams were split with junior setter Camryn Haworth and freshman libero Ramsey Gary representing the Cream while redshirt freshman Natalia Hagopian and freshman Luca Fickell split setter duties for Team Crimson. Senior defensive specialist Isa Lopez served as the libero for the Crimson.
Sophomore opposite hitter Avry Tatum had a match-high 10 kills in the winning effort, showcasing her elite ability to play off one foot. Haworth provided 24 assists in the victory with Gary digging 16 balls in her first taste of Wilkinson Hall.
Freshman middle blocker Ava Vickers led the Hoosiers with seven blocks while senior middle blocker Savannah Kjolhede had a team-high four blocks for the Crimson.
Senior outside hitter Morgan Geddes had a team-high seven kills for Team Crimson while Kjolhede and graduate student middle blocker Kaley Rammelsberg each supplied five.
IU begins the 2023 campaign next Friday evening (August 25th) with a match against New Hampshire at 7:00 PM in Wilkinson Hall.

• Four Hoosiers debuted in an IU uniform including Tatum, Vickers, Fickell and Gary.
• Game highs were provided by Haworth (24 assists), Tatum (10 kills), Vickers (7 blocks) and Gary (16 digs).
