
Indiana Softball to Open Season in the 2024 NFCA Leadoff Classic

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. –––– The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced the field for the 2024 NFCA Leadoff Classic, the annual season-opening tournament on Thursday afternoon.
For the second year in a row, Indiana will be part of the prestigious event to begin its season.
Seventeen teams will compete from Feb. 8-11 at the Eddie C. Moore Complex in Clearwater, Fla.
Indiana will be tested right out of the gate with five games against strong teams over the course of the weekend.
Indiana will face off against Oregon, Clemson, Army, Kansas and North Carolina Central in Clearwater.
Indiana's weekend schedule is as follows:
Thursday, Feb. 8: Indiana vs. Oregon – 7 p.m.
Friday, Feb. 9: Indiana vs. Clemson – 7 p.m.
Saturday, Feb. 10: Indiana vs. Army – 1 p.m.
Saturday, Feb. 10: Indiana vs. Kansas – 4 p.m.
Sunday, Feb. 11: Indiana vs. North Carolina Central – 10 a.m.
Of the five teams, three of them were 2023 NCAA Tournament participants. Clemson and Oregon both reached the Super Regional round while North Carolina Central won the MEAC before falling in the Athens Regional in the NCAA Tournament.
