BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana women's soccer defeated Northern Illinois behind a brace from graduate forward Paige Webber. The Hoosiers defeated the Huskies, 2-0, at Bill Armstrong Stadium on Thursday evening.
KEY MOMENTS
• Indiana (4-0-2) struck first in the 36th minute after sophomore forward Marisa Grzesiak intercepted the cross and dished it off to Webber just outside the goalie box as she got it past the goalie into the right side of the net.
• In the 61st minute, Northern Illinois (2-2-1) saw their best chance with a shot from forward Amber Best. Best's shot would hit it right off the middle cross bar.
• Webber added her second goal in the 64th minute after junior midfielder Hope Paredes launched one from center field to the front of the attack. The Huskies keeper dove for the save at the top of the 18-yard box, but Webber put just enough on it as it rolled straight into the net.
• The Hoosiers continued to put the pressure on as they held NIU one shot in the remaining minutes of the second half to seal the win.

QUOTABLES
Indiana head coach Erwin van Bennekom
"First of all, a good win. The first 15-20 minutes we struggled a bit to get on the ball and pick up second balls. They have some really good players, a good organization, and they were very dangerous in transition moments. After that we kind of got a grip on the game and created a good amount of chances ourselves. Obviously, two good goals by Paige (Webber). We left the game hanging a little too long, but outside of that, especially in the second half, we controlled the games and their transition for the most part. Again, credit to them, a good team and they are going to do well this year in their conference. Credit to our team. They (NIU) didn't play on Thursday and obviously we were coming back from Tennessee, a seven-hour bus trip. After that game it's hard to come play a team that's fresh. The depth of our team and the rotations worked out in our favor. Really good win".
UP NEXT
The Hoosiers welcome Louisville to Bill Armstrong Stadium on Thursday, Sept. 7. The match will be livestreamed on B1G+ with kickoff set for 7:00 p.m. ET.
