
Saris Powers Hoosiers to Comfortable Sweep of Valparaiso

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - Trailing for just one point in the entire match, the Indiana Volleyball team (4-3, 0-0) won comfortably over Valparaiso in the opening contest at the Stacheville Challenge on Friday (Sept. 8) afternoon.
The Hoosiers swept the Beacons in just under an hour-and-a-half winning 25-16, 25-15, 25-15 in the Winfield Dunn Center on the campus of Austin Peay.
Junior outside hitter Mady Saris had her best game of the season, terminating 13 kills on 27 swings with just two errors (.407 hitting percentage). The Hoosiers hit .316 as a team with five players providing at least five kills.
Junior setter Camryn Haworth was one dig short of a double-double, finishing with 29 assists and nine digs. Graduate student middle blocker Kaley Rammelsberg finished with six blocks to lead IU to 13 total team blocks.
The Hoosiers held Valparaiso to .000 hitting (22-22-102) on the afternoon, the first time an IU opponent has failed hit to hit in the positive since Sam Houston State hit -.033 on September 2nd, 2022.

• A standout early in her college career, Gary tallied a team-high 12 kills to pace the Hoosiers defensively.
• This marks the sixth time this season she's had 10+ kills in a single match.

• Saris flipped the switch offensively after a rough trip to California, notching 13 kills while hitting .407 in the win over Valparaiso.
• This marks the fourth time in her career she has hit .400 or better with at least 10 kills and the first time in 2023.
