IOWA CITY, Iowa – No. 14 Indiana fell in its first Big Ten game of the season at No. 3 Iowa, 84-57, on Saturday night.

KEY MOMENTS

Iowa (17-1, 6-0 B1G) led by as many as seven in the first quarter but the Hoosiers (14-2, 5-1 B1G) mounted its own 7-0 run thanks to back-to-back buckets including an and-1 from graduate student forward Mackenzie Holmes. Iowa free throws at the end of the frame made the difference for the Hawkeyes, who led 19-17.
Moore-McNeil tied the game up at 19-all to open the second quarter, but Iowa sunk back-to-back 3-pointers to stretch its lead to six. Parrish connected on a right win triple and Holmes found Garzon at the rim for two to come back within a pair, 28-26, with 5:02 remaining.
The Hoosiers would keep the deficit to two on a pair of steal and scores from Parrish and Moore-McNeil but Hawkeye triples made it a 43-37 edge at the break.
Cold shooting for Indiana would be the story in the second half as it connected on just 28 percent from the field while getting outscored 43-20.

NOTABLE

Holmes scored 16 points, recording her 14^th-straight double figure scoring game.
Parrish (11) and Garzon (11) each added double figures.
Moore-McNeil led with six assists.
Senior guard Sara Scalia pulled down a season-high nine rebounds.
Indiana went a collective 43 percent from the floor but just 25 percent from the 3-point line.

"Well, we're very disappointed. I wish we could have played so much better than we did tonight. Every ounce of credit goes to Iowa. They were terrific. Their crowd was terrific, the energy in the building. About like that first half, we turned it over way too much. In spite of that many turnovers, we still felt decent about the score at halftime. We're down three, and then Caitlin Clark hits the three to put them up by six, but at that point we thought we were doing a pretty decent job. We were just turning the ball over too much. Then we come out and give Cait(lin) the back door lay-up and all of a sudden you're down nine. From there it got out of control. They were clicking on all cylinders, all of them shot the ball really well tonight. We weren't very good. I would love to be able to give you reasons why that was. We looked out of sorts offensively, and certainly didn't do what we needed to, not on Cait(lin), but the rest of those guys. Molly Davis to have 18 points, just things like that. You know Cait's probably going to get her average, but you don't want to let those other guys have big nights. Unfortunately, we let too many of them have their way with us. All credit goes to Iowa. They're a great team, well coached. Lisa (Bluder) does a tremendous job. We're very disappointed we weren't better tonight."
