• Indiana University continues its 124th season of competition in men's basketball with the finale of a three-game stretch against top-15 Big Ten Conference opponents at No. 10/11 Illinois at 2 p.m. CT on Saturday, Jan. 27, on FOX.
• The Illini (14-5, 5-3) enter the matchup with the third-best conference record and a mark of 10-2 at the State Farm Center.
• Fifth-year senior guard Terrance Shannon Jr. leads the Illini with 20.5 points per game to go along with 4.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 2.4 made. He had posted .500/.370/.778 shooting splits in 13 games.

• Indiana leads the 187-game series over Illinois 96-91, one of two matchups (Purdue) in which both IU and the opponent have won 90-plus games in the series.
• The Hoosiers are riding a three-game winning streak over the Illini after sweeping the season series a year ago. All-American forward Trayce Jackson-Davis dominated the two matchups. He averaged 30.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 4.0 blocks on 71.1% (27-of-38) shooting from the floor.

• Freshman forward Mackenzie Mgbako knocked down a couple of 3-pointers and made all seven free throw attempts to score 17 points. The Gladstone, N.J., native has averaged 16.0 points on 42.9% (9-of-21) shooting from behind the arc over his last four outings.

Sophomore Jump for Reneau
• Sophomore forward Malik Reneau has posted double digits in the scoring column in 17 games this season, including 11 efforts of at least 15 points. He notched a career-high 34 points against Kennesaw State (Dec. 29) and a Big Ten career-high of 28 points at No. 11/8 Wisconsin (Jan. 19).
• Over the last two non-conference games, Reneau averaged 29.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists on 23-of-33 (69.7%) shooting from the floor, 5-of-7 (71.4%) from the 3-point line, and 8-of-12 (66.7%) from the charity stripe.
• Reneau is averaging a team-best 16.5 points per game to go along with 6.1 rebounds and 2.9 assists in 30 minutes per game. He is shooting 56.4% (126-of-22-) from the floor, 40.6% (13-of-32) from the 3-point line, and 63.2% (48-of-76) from the free throw line.
• The Miami native has posted double figure scoring outputs in all eight games played away from Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall this season. He is also averaging 16.8 points per game in Indiana's four matchups with ranked opponents.

• Freshman forward Mackenzie Mgbako has made a team-high 26 3-pointers this season, including 18 over his past eight games. During the month-long stretch he is shooting 18-of-38 (47.4%) from behind the arc and is averaging 12.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game.
• Mgbako scored a career-best 19 points on 6-of-12 shooting from the floor against Minnesota (Jan. 12) to go along with four rebounds and two assists.
• The consensus top-10 recruit is averaging 12.4 points and 3.5 rebounds per game in Big Ten play. He has reached double figures in the scoring column in 12 of the last 14 games, including 15-plus points in three-straight outings.
• Among freshmen in the Big Ten, Mgbako is the leader in total points scored (205), tied for first in scoring average (10.8 points per game), second in made 3-pointers (26), second in made free throws (49), and third in total rebounds (73).

• Galloway has dished out 44 total assists (5.5 per game) in his last eight outings dating back to Dec. 21, 2023, to go against just 14 turnovers. For his career, the Hoosiers are 13-2 in the 15 games 'Gallo' has handed out at least five dimes.
• He is averaging a career-best 10.6 points per game, including a career-high 28 points against No. 2/2 Kansas (Dec. 16). He converted 12-of-17 shots in the contest.

• Montverde Academy star and Indiana commit Liam McNeeley was one of 24 players named to the 47th annual McDonald's All-American Game.
• The East and West rosters feature 19 of the top 21 prospects in the 2024 ESPN 100, including McNeely, who currently ranks No. 11.
• McNeely is the 34th player committed to the Hoosiers to play in the McDonald's All-American Game. In the last 10 seasons the Hoosiers have seen James Blackmon Jr. (2014), Thomas Bryant ('15), Romeo Langford ('18), Trayce Jackson-Davis ('19), Kel'el Ware ('22), and Mackenzie Mgbako ('23) participate in the game.
