BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Indiana men's soccer head coach Todd Yeagley announced Wednesday (Jan. 31) the transfer of Northwestern forward and two-time first-team All-Big Ten performer Justin Weiss.
Weiss is a graduate transfer that spent his last three seasons in Evanston following a freshman campaign at Colgate. In 51 career matches, Weiss has totaled 28 goal contributions from 18 goals and 10 assists. He is set to join the team this fall.
"Justin is a proven goalscorer who will mesh well with our returning attacking group," Yeagley said. "His instincts and composure around goal will provide a boost to our attack."
Weiss was one of the Big Ten's most dynamic players last season, collecting seven goals and seven assists in 17 matches to lead Northwestern. He tied for the league lead in assists, was No. 2 in points (21) and No. 3 in goals. By season's end, he had earned United Soccer Coaches first-team All-North Region and Scholar All-America honors as well as first-team All-Big Ten laurels for the second time in his career – he also received the praise as a sophomore in 2021, having tallied eight goals and 18 points.
With the addition of Weiss, Indiana now has three 2023 first-team All-Big Ten selections on its current roster – he joins juniors Patrick McDonald and Samuel Sarver. Senior goalkeeper JT Harms was a second-team selection, and forward Collins Oduro picked up freshman team honors.
Weiss is Indiana's second announced transfer in two days. On Tuesday, the program made official the transfer of sophomore midfielder Quinton Elliot, who is training with the team this spring.
