
Sadie Canelli Named NFHCA Division I Player of the Week

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. –––– Indiana Field Hockey freshman Sadie Canelli was named Division I National Player of the Week by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) on Wednesday.
She was one of two players to win the weekly honor along with Lily Neilson of Bucknell. Canelli was the defensive player of the week while Neilson took the offensive distinction.
The freshman standout earned the recognition after playing a key role in two Indiana wins last weekend. The Hoosiers earned a 2-1 win at No. 12 Iowa in overtime and defeated Monmouth in a 4-0 shutout. She had seven total saves and only allowed one goal in the two games.
Her outstanding play also earned her Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week.
On the season, Canelli has recorded 35 saves with three shutouts.
