Hoosiers Return Home for Fall Exhibition

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Head coach Jeff Mercer and the Indiana Baseball team will make its way back home to Bart Kaufman Field, taking on Cincinnati in the second allowed scrimmage of the fall slate. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 PM with fans allowed to attend with free admission.
The Hoosiers played Louisville two weeks ago on the road, getting experience for several new players on IU's roster. Transfer pitcher Gavin Seebold (Southern Indiana) tossed two scoreless innings as the team's starting pitcher, retiring all six batters he faced. Transfer outfielder Korbyn Dickerson (Louisville) hit for the cycle in consecutive at-bats.
Freshmen Jake Hanley (Mason, Ohio) and Hogan Denny (Mooresville, Ind.) showed off their power in their debut with the Hoosiers. Hanley played first base and hit a solo home run while Denny moved around from left field to designated hitter and doubled off the ball in one of his at-bats.
IU and Cincinnati will combine to play 18 innings of baseball on Saturday afternoon. This will be the only fall contest against a visiting team at Bart Kaufman Field. The Hoosiers will play their intrasquad world series over three dates – those dates still to be determined.
