BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Already the owner of Indiana's all-time aces record, senior setter Camryn Haworth made more history on Nov. 14 night (Thursday) in a match at Iowa. She became IU's all-time leader in assists, during the rally-scoring era (since 2001), after surpassing Megan Tallman (3,711) in Coralville. She recorded 28 assists against the Hawkeyes to take her career tally to 3,727 with five matches remaining.
Haworth has started 106 games at setter since arriving in Bloomington in 2021 and has become a fan favorite with the dynamic versatility she brought to the position. She has led IU to an efficient team hitting percentage as the starting setter and is now the owner of over 3,700 career assists. Over the past three seasons, Haworth has started 89 of a possible 90 matches at the position.
NCAA Volleyball began the rally-scoring era in 2001. Prior to that, it used the side out scoring system which allowed players to rack up assists, kills and blocks even if their team didn't score a point. Points were only awarded to a team when it came off their serve. Under the system, it gave athletes a chance to put up numbers unattainable under the current scoring format.
Haworth has rewritten numerous program records. Among setters in program history, she is top five in assists (3,727), digs (891), aces (206), kills (353) and blocks (168). The two-time All-Big Ten selection and 2023 All-American has spent most of the season playing through injury and is still averaging 9.94 assists per set, 2.13 digs per set, 0.91 kills per set and has 42 aces on the year.
IU continues its 2024 season on Saturday evening in Lincoln against No. 2 Nebraska.
