• The No. 14/15 Indiana Men's Basketball team (5-2) defeated Providence (5-3) by a score of 89-73 in the seventh-place game at the Bad Boy Mowers Battle 4 Atlantis on Friday, Nov. 29, at the Imperial Ballroom in The Bahamas.
Indiana scored first and held the lead for 37:45 of game time. The Hoosiers held the game's biggest lead (19 points) at the 17:08 mark of the second half.
• IU held Providence to 25-of-64 (39.1%) shooting from the floor. The Friars shot 5-of-16 (31.3%) on layup attempts and finished 5-of-17 (29.4%) from the 3-point line in the second half.
• Offensively, Indiana shot 32-of-60 (53.3%) from the floor, 8-of-15 (53.3%) from the 3-point line, and 17-of-20 (85.0%) from the free throw line. The game was the first time Indiana slashed .500/.500/.850 or better in a game since Feb. 15, 2015, against Minnesota.
• The Hoosiers tallied 20 assists and only coughed up 10 turnovers.
• Sophomore forward Mackenzie Mgbako finished with a team-high 25 points on 9-of-14 shooting from the floor and 4-of-7 from the 3-point line. The Gladstone, N.J., native added four rebounds and two steals.
• The game marked Mgbako's fifth career 20-point outing and first since opening the season with a 31-point outburst against SIUE on Nov. 6.
• Junior forward Malik Reneau posted a season-high 21 points on 8-of-9 shooting from the floor to go along with three assists and a steal. He has scored 20-plus points twice this season (both in the Battle 4 Atlantis) and nine times in his career.
• The frontcourt duo are the first pair of Hoosier teammates to each score 20-plus points in a game since Kel'el Ware (22 points) and Mgbako (20) against Northwestern on Feb. 18, 2024.
• Fifth-year senior guard Trey Galloway posted 18 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the floor, five rebounds, five assists, and one block, his first 15-5-5 game of his career.
• The game marked his first start of the season and 67th of his career for the Cream and Crimson.
• Sixth-year center Oumar Ballo controlled the rim with game highs in both rebounds (10) and blocked shots (3) to go along with eight points and three assists.
• Senior forward Luke Goode tallied a season-high nine points, three rebounds, one assist, and one block in 25 minutes off the bench.
• Redshirt sophomore guard Myles Rice dished out a game-high six assists to go along with two points, three rebounds, and one steal.
• Freshman guard Bryson Tucker scored two points and pulled down three rebounds.
• Senior center Langdon Hatton produced four points and one rebound.
• Sophomore guard Gabe Cupps handed out one assist off the bench.
• Up Next: Indiana will return to Bloomington for a non-conference matchup against Sam Houston on Tuesday, Dec. 3, at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. Tip is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET on BTN.
