BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – No. 25 Indiana couldn't overcome a slow start as it fell 72-68 in overtime on Thursday at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.
KEY MOMENTS
- A strong Harvard defense held Indiana (1-1) to just seven points to begin the game, 21-7. Junior guard Yarden Garzon, graduate student guard Chloe Moore-McNeil and graduate student guard Sydney Parrish all scored for the Hoosiers in the first quarter.
- The Hoosiers gained momentum in the second quarter, outscoring their opponent 23-11 in the frame. In the final 3:41 of the first half, IU held Harvard's offense to no points as it chipped away and made it a one-score game at the half, 32-30.
- Junior forward Meister helped the Hoosiers take the lead to begin the second half with a layup off an opponent turnover on an assist by Parrish. The two teams were deadlocked at 16-all after the third quarter with the Crimson maintaining the one-point edge.
- In the fourth quarter, Indiana and Harvard exchanged leads four times and tied the game three times. A 3-pointer by the opposition with 20 seconds to play sent the game into overtime as Moore-McNeil's attempt to win the game in regulation was no good at the rim.
- In the five-minute overtime, IU mustered up just one field goal with 1:16 remaining on a Meister bunny.
