Opening Tip
• Indiana University continues its 125th season of competition in men's basketball against Eastern Illinois at noon ET on Sunday, Nov. 10, at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. B1G+ will stream the contest with Austin Platt (pxp), Alex Haynes (analyst), and Kara Adams (sideline) on the call.
• The Panthers enter the Sunday matinee with a record of 1-1. EIU boasts five players averaging double figures in the scoring column led by senior guard Nakyel Shelton at 15.0 points per outing. Fifth-year senior guard Artese Stapleton (14.0 points per game), junior guard Zion Fruster (12.5), and redshirt junior guard Obadiah Curtis (11.5) gives Eastern Illinois a potent four-guard attack.

• The Hoosiers are 2-0 against the Panthers and 26-0 against teams currently playing in the Ohio Valley Conference after opening the season with a win over OVC foe SIUE.
• Indiana advanced to the second round of the 1992 NCAA Tournament with a 94-55 victory over Eastern Illinois on March 19, 1992, in Boise. All-Americans Alan Henderson (19 points, 11 rebounds), Damon Bailey (18 points), and Calbert Cheaney (11 points) paved the way for the Hoosier win. Indiana would advance to the Final Four that season.
• IU most recently beat EIU by a score of 88-49 on Nov. 13, 2015, in Bloomington. James Blackmon Jr. scored a game-high 17 points as one of six Hoosiers in double figures in the scoring column.

• No. 17/18 Indiana (1-0) opened the season with an 80-61 victory over SIUE on Wednesday, Nov. 6, at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.
• Sophomore forward Mackenzie Mgbako laced a career-high 31 points on 13-of-17 shooting from the field. The Gladstone, N.J., native became the fourth player under head coach Mike Woodson to top the 30-point threshold in a game at Indiana.
• The Hoosiers also received double-digit scoring performances from junior forward Malik Reneau (15 points), sixth-year senior center Oumar Ballo (15), and redshirt sophomore guard Myles Rice (11). The starting lineup for the Hoosiers outpaced the Cougars by a count of 72-35.
Mgbako Drops 31 Against SIUE
• Sophomore forward Mackenzie Mgbako scored a career-high 31 points on 13-of-17 shooting from the floor and 4-of-5 shots from behind the arc in Indiana's victory over SIUE on Nov. 6 at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.
• Mgbako joined Marquette guard Kam Jones as the only high-major players this season to score 30-plus points while attempting less than two free throws in a contest.
• The 31 points scored marked the most in a season debut for a Hoosier since 17-year NBA veteran Eric Gordon dropped 33 points in his collegiate debut against Chattanooga on Nov. 12, 2007. Former All-American Jimmy Rayl holds the program record for points in a season opener when he scored 35 against Virginia on Dec. 1, 1962.
Gallo Dropping Dimes
• Fifth-year senior guard Trey Galloway posted six points, two rebounds, and nine assists in 17 minutes off the bench in Indiana's 80-61 season-opening win over SIUE in Bloomington.
• In the last 25 seasons of major conference basketball, Gallo is the 10th player to have at least nine assists in 17 minutes or less. He is the first player to achieve the feat since Vanderbilt guard Carter Josephs on Feb. 22, 2014.
• Galloway finished the 2023-24 B1G season with 105 total assists, tied for the second most in program history in conference play. His also had multiple 12-assist games last season to become the first Hoosier to achieve that feat since Naismith Hall of Famer Isiah Thomas (1980-81).
