SUNDAY, DEC. 15
Lilly King and Team USA shattered the women's 4x100-meter medley world record by 3.94 seconds in a time of 3:40.41. The gold medal performance marks King's 18th-career world championship, 27th-career world championship medal and fourth medal of the 2024 championships.
King has reached the short course podium 14 times and has won gold in three different SCM world championships (2016, 2022, 2024). Each time, King helped the U.S. win gold in the women's medley relay.
King dropped the field's quickest breaststroke leg in 1:03.02, just four hundredths off her time from the previous world record set in 2022.
Ching Hwee Gan went four-for-four setting national records this week. In her final event, Gan went a best 1:56.85 in the 200-meter freestyle prelim to lay claim to Singapore's short course records in the 200 free, 400 free, 800 free and 1,500 free.
SATURDAY, DEC. 14
Junior Zalán Sárkány may have had the moment of the meet, winning Hungary's first gold medal in these World Championships in Budapest. Sárkány set a national record with his 7:30.56 swim in the 800-meter freestyle.
Sárkány was neck and neck with 1,500-meter champion Ahmed Jaouadi of Tunisia most of the way but stormed ahead and built his lead in the final 200 meters.
Lilly King earned her second medal of the meet and 25th overall World Championship medal, helping the United States take silver in the mixed 4x100-meter medley event with a time of 3:30.55. King split 1:53.05 in the breaststroke leg.
The relay was King's third swim of the day as she marched her way to the 50-meter breaststroke final. The two-time medalist in the event was second in prelims (29.20) and third in the semifinal (28.99).
FRIDAY, DEC. 13
On Friday at short course world, all five Hoosier swims produced top-10 finishes. Three Hoosiers set national records.
Singapore's Ching Hwee Gan finished ninth in the women's 1,500-meter freestyle with a time of 15:50.37. The Hoosier senior was third-fastest out of the morning heats and the fastest Singaporean ever in the event.
Freshman Miroslav Knedla finished his individual program in the 50-meter backstroke (22.89) and 100-meter medley (51.90), finishing seventh and eighth, respectively. Knedla's 51.90 in the medley bested his previous Czech record he had set in the semifinal.
Rafael Miroslaw and the German 4x200-meter freestyle just missed out on the podium, finishing fourth in 6:50.43, but established a national in the event.
THURSDAY, DEC. 12
Lilly King returned to the World Championships podium for the 24th time in her career Thursday, taking silver in the women's 100-meter breaststroke event at the 2024 World Aquatics Swimming Championships (25m) in Budapest.
The performance also marked her 11th short course medal and sixth silver in all world championships. King's 1:02.80 was second only to China's Qianting Tang, who just missed a world record in 1:02.38. King will swim the women's 50-meter breaststroke this weekend to conclude her individual program at this short course worlds.
Freshman Miroslav Knedla set two national records for Czechia on his way to qualifying for two finals. Knedla went 22.74 in the men's 50-meter backstroke to earn the No. 5 seed in Friday's final before a 52.20 in the men's 100-meter medley, which placed eighth in the semifinal.
Sophomore Miranda Grana earned her second Mexican national record of the meet, going 26.92 in the women's 50-meter backstroke. Her time placed 19th in the prelim, just outside of the top-16 needed to advance. Grana also set a national record in 100 back on Tuesday with her 56.62.
WEDNESDAY, DEC. 11
It's two national records in two days for Singapore's Ching Hwee Gan. Following her 14th-place performances in the 400-meter freestyle (4:04.17) on Tuesday, Gan opened her Wednesday with an 8:18.85 in the 800 free. Gan was the second-fastest swimmer in the early heats of the event and finished eighth after the final heat.
Lilly King will compete for another international medal Thursday in the 100-meter breaststroke. King was second in both the preliminary (1:03.50) and semifinal (1:03.23) to set the stage for the final.

Indiana sophomore Miranda Grana broke the Mexican record in the 100-meter backstroke twice during the opening day of the 2024 World Aquatics Swimming Championships (25m). Grana's preliminary 56.83 swim marked her first time under 57 seconds before she improved her personal best to 56.62 in the semifinal Tuesday afternoon. She finished 10th in the event.
