Indiana Leaves Sheridan Tournament with Nine Placers

BETHLEHEM, Pa. ––– No. 29 Indiana competed in the Sheridan Tournament on Friday and put nine Hoosiers on the podium in Lehigh's annual event.
Fourteen Hoosiers competed in the tournament. Of the nine placers, five finished in second place and four finished in third place at their respective weight class.
No team scoring was recorded.
There were seven teams who entered wrestlers, including Indiana, Lehigh, Virginia, Drexel, Rutgers, Brown and Franklin & Marshall.
KEY MOMENTS
• After dropping a close 4-3 decision in the semifinals, No. 22 Jacob Moran (125) climbed to third place with two straight wins in the wrestlebacks.
• No. 26 Angelo Rini (133) defeated No. 33 Gable Porter (Virginia) in the semifinals by default.
• In his first appearance since the Navy Classic (11/23), Tyler Lillard (165) wrestled his way to second place.
• No. 28 Gabe Sollars won his first three matches by tech fall, fall and major decision before losing in the final match in a 7-6 decision to JT Davis (Lehigh).
NOTABLES
• This was Indiana's second consecutive season competing in the Sheridan Tournament.
• Rini's win over No. 33 Gable Porter was his second ranked victory of the season.
• Rini, Porter, Lillard, Sollars and Bullock all finished in second place.
• Lillard won his first two matches by tech fall and by a combined score of 37-7.
• Mason Alley made his first appearance of the season.
