Well, we are disappointed felt like we got bullied all afternoon. That's exactly what I the word I used with our players. Give Illinois a ton of credit for coming out and punch us right in the mouth from the beginning and just put their heads down just drove it. We didn't respond very well and we were playing catch up for most of the game. The second quarter was just awful for us and like I said, give Illinois all the credit. They came out and did a great job, did not back down. They're a hard matchup for us, have always been. We're very, very, very disappointed. I thought we executed poorly. We were a little bit out of sorts. I don't know if that's because we aren't used to playing from behind. On a day where you do get behind, you have to be able to execute at a high level and I thought we were poor at that."

The Hoosiers (21-4, 12-3 B1G) held Illinois scoreless for a four-and-a-half-minute stretch midway through the frame, but the lead was never more than six.

- Holmes went into double figures early in the game as her and-1 bucket at the 8:58 mark in the second quarter. But there were few bright spots for IU in the frame, as it scored just 11 points and shot just 25 percent as the Illini took a 44-26 lead at the break.
- Sophomore guard Yarden Garzon started off the Hoosiers with a 3-pointer in the third quarter, as Indiana cut the deficit to single digits on a pair from senior guard Chloe Moore-McNeil at the line. But Illinois continued to provide answers and brought the lead back to double digits with just under five remaining and a 61-47 lead going to the fourth.
- IU battled in the fourth and came within eight with 3:17 tog but couldn't turn up stops on the defensive end and hit just one field goal for the remainder of the game.
