JOHNS ISLAND, S.C. – The Indiana men's golf team opened the spring schedule with a fourth-place finish at the Battle at Briar's Creek from Feb. 5-6 played at the Golf Club at Briar's Creek. The Hoosiers shot a 581 (289-292; +5).

The event was shortened to 36 holes after a weather cell postponed the first day of play.

CHIP-INS
• Sixth-year senior Noah Gillard converted a team-best seven birdies across the two rounds of play. He tied for fourth overall at 142 (71-71; -2). The finish marked his second top-5 of the season.
• Senior Drew Salyers matched Gillard at 142 (72-70; -2). He knocked down six total birdies, including four in the second round. He has finished top-10 in five tournaments this season.
• Graduate Thomas Hursey tied for 15th at 145 (73-72; +1). Hursey made three birdies in both rounds.
• Freshman Cole Starnes shot 152 (73-79; +8) and made three birdie conversions.
• Competing as an individual, freshman Nick Piesen fired a 153 (76-77; +9) with four birdies.
• Redshirt junior Robert Bender III finished the tournament at 156 (76-80; +12) with three birdies.
