Hoosiers Bring Best Effort on Final Day in Baton Rouge

BATON ROUGE, La. – Indiana Track and Field continued to bring their best effort as they concluded their first outdoor meet of the season.
IU totaled five additional personal bests and six top-10 finishers.
In our first outdoor meet I thought many of the athletes looked good this weekend," Assistant coach Valerie Brown said. "The efforts were where we would like them to be. As always, there are things we can do better with every event group, but effort is something that's in our athletes control. It was good to see them display the competitive edge this weekend. Every meet is about progress and taking strides to better prepare us for championship time, and the athletes taking advantage of the opportunity to compete. Now that we have our starting point of the outdoor season, we build from here by getting better by the day, week and every meet."
Mahogany Jenkin has a busy day with two fifth place finishes in the High Jump (1.70m/5-07) and the Triple Jump (12.58m/41-03.25). Her mark in the Triple Jump ranks in the top-25 in the nation (No. 24).
Keefer Soehngen led the middle-distance group in the 800 Meters with a time of 1:50.82. Teammates Martin Segurola and Andrew Mangum set personal bests in the event.
Antonio Laidler finished eighth in the 200 Meters with the 35th fastest time in the nation.
The Hoosiers saw six personal bests and seven top-10 finishers in their first events of the outdoor season.
John Colquitt finished ninth in the 110mH for a personal best time of 14.19.
Up next, the Hoosiers will compete at Florida's Tom Jones Memorial meet (April 12-13) and the Mt. Sac Relays (April 11-12).
