No. 13 Indiana Sweeps Saturday Action At Aztec Invitational

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – No. 13 Indiana picked up a pair of wins over host No. 24 San Diego State and CSU Fullerton to sweep action on Day 1 at the Aztec Invitational on Saturday to improve to 16-3 on the season.

KEY MOMENTS VS. SAN DIEGO STATE
- Indiana and San Diego State swapped goals early in the first as the two teams battled early in a 2-2 tie. The lead broke open for the Hoosiers with back-to-back goals from junior Sophia Sollie and sophomore Nicole Tyner.
- Graduate student Zoe Crouch added cushion to the 5-2 IU lead after one as the lead stretched to five in the early goings of the second quarter. Sollie completed her hat trick midway through the second, with four goals total in the opening half, and helped her team to a 8-3 lead at half.
- The two teams were even in the third with three goals each as Crouch, Tyner and junior Portia Sasser found the back of the net.
- Sollie capped off her five-goal day in the fourth quarter as Indiana outscore the host Aztecs, 4-1, in the final frame.
KEY MOMENTS VS. CSU FULLERTON
- Sollie continued to have the hot had against the Tritons, as she scored first for the Hoosiers on a power play just 11 seconds into the contest. Indiana's lead grew to 3-1 on another powerplay goal by sophomore Grace Klingler to take the lead after eight minutes.
- IU fired off four-straight goals in the second quarter as it led 7-2 at the midway point.
- Two more goals were added in the third as Crouch and sophomore Claire Witting combined to push the lead to 9-2.
- Kidd posted her own hat trick on a penalty shot with 5:30 remaining in the fourth quarter as CSU Fullerton got a couple back late but the Hoosiers were able to complete the sweep on Saturday.
NOTES
- Sollie recorded a season-high five goals in the win over No. 24 San Diego State. Crouch also added a hat trick while Tyner, junior Skylar Kidd and sophomore Grace Klingler all chipped in two goals each.
- Crouch tallied up seven points in the win, as she recorded a team-high four assists. She tied a team-high two steals. Kidd earned a team-high five exclusions.
- Kidd led the way with a hat trick against CSU Fullerton. Sollie and junior Grace Hathaway each had a pair of goals in the win.
- Higgs combined for seven saves each against the Aztecs and the Tritons, improving her overall record for the season to 14-3.
