The Hoosiers Rout Minnesota in Series-Clinching Win

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. ––– Indiana had a standout performance on Saturday, defeating Minnesota, 15-2, behind Sophie Kleiman's impressive outing in the circle and the red-hot Hoosier bats.
With the win, the Hoosiers move to 28-12 on the season, with a 5-6 record in Big Ten play.
INDIANA 15, MINNESOTA 2 (F/5)
KEY MOMENTS
• Indiana took an early 1-0 lead on an RBI single to shortstop from freshman Aly VanBrandt to score junior Brianna Copeland.
• IU capitalized on offensive opportunities throughout the bottom of the first inning to build a 5-0 lead by the end of it, including a two-RBI single through the right side from freshman Tristian Thompson.
• The offensive momentum continued into the second inning as Indiana would add on six more runs in the second to make it an 11-0 game. VanBrandt, redshirt senior Cora Bassett, freshman Alex Cooper, senior Brooke Benson, and juniors Taylor Minnick and Sarah Stone all drove in runs in the bottom of the second.
• Just like the first and second inning, the Hoosiers continued their offensive prowess in the third inning. Indiana had three-straight RBI singles from Cooper, Benson and Copeland to bring it to a 14-0 game.
• Minnick hit an RBI single to right field to bring Benson home for Indiana's 15th run of the game.
• Sophomore Sophie Kleiman would throw two strikeouts in a 1-2-3 inning the bottom of the fourth to keep Minnesota's offense at bay.
• Kleiman had control throughout the entirety of the game, not allowing a hit until the final inning and throwing five strikeouts.

• With Bassett's two runs scored today, she is now the career leader in all-time runs scored as a Hoosier with 158 career runs.
• Kleiman threw a spectacular game, only allowing two hits and zero earned runs while throwing five strikeouts in the win.
• Kleiman's record now stands at 8-3 on the season with 59 strikeouts and a 2.97 ERA.
• Nine different Hoosiers scored a run.
