Indiana Field Hockey Unveils 2024 Signing Class

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. –––– Indiana Field Hockey head coach Kayla Bashore announced the program's incoming 2024 class on Thursday.
The team will add nine new players as part of its 2024 signing class with the group arriving to Bloomington this fall.
The class includes players from four different states and four international countries. Seven of them hail from the high school ranks and there are two transfers.
Sadie Canelli | Goalkeeper | Boxford, Mass.
Charlotte Glasper | Forward/Midfield | Shaker Heights, Ohio.
Mijntje Hagen | Forward | Zeist, Netherlands
Josie Naeger | Forward/Midfield | St. Louis, Mo.
Elen Nicholls | Back/Midfield | Deal, Kent (England)
Brooke Ross | Goalkeeper | Winchester, Mass.
Keke Sluiter | Midfielder | Nieuew-Vennep, Netherlands
Iman Aicha Tabbai Marzocca | Forward | Tandil, Argentina
Morgan Qualls | Back | Randallstown, Md.

Sadie Canelli | Goalkeeper | Boxford, Mass.
- Graduate of Pingree School.
- Played for high school coach Jen Richardson.
- Played club for NorthEast Elite under coach Sky Caron.
- Named to U16 National Selection Camp, Jr. Olympics and a Salem News All-Star.
- Earned All-League and All-Conference First Team honors as well as NFHCA and MAX Field Hockey First Team All-Region.
- Pingree won the 2022 and 2023 NEPSAC Class C Championship, and she was part of a fifth place finish at the U19 National Club Championship. with NorthEast Elite.
- In 2022, she recorded 15 shutouts, 132 saves and .71 goals against average.
- Ranked in the 2024 MAX Field Hockey Top 50.
- Parents are Abigail and Matthew Canelli. Has two siblings, Madeline and Lucas.
- Intended Major: Physics.
- Why IU: "I liked IU from reading about it, but once I visited, I loved it. The coaches are great, and I love the environment as well with what the school has to offer academically."
Charlotte Glasper | Forward/Midfield | Shaker Heights, Ohio.
- Graduate of Shaker Heights High School.
- Played for high school coach Ashely Boorstein.
- Played club for Field Hockey Life (FHL) under coach Keli Smith-Puzo.
- Led the team in goals in both 2022 (27) and 2021 (26) with 12 and nine assists, respectively.
- Missed the 2023 season due to injury but had a combined 63 goals her first three years of high school.
- Earned All-Ohio honors, First Team All-League, Shaker Heights Offensive Player of the Year and Academic All-Ohio Award in 2021 and 2022.
- Named a U19 USA Field Hockey Sportsmanship All-Star at the Nexus Championships.
- Recognized in the 2024 MAX Field Hockey Watch List.
- Parents are Maureen and Travis Glasper. Has one sibling, Will.
- Intended Major: Business.
- Why IU: "I fell in love with the campus when I first visited. The strong academics at the Kelley School of Business was a huge pull factor. I also love the amazing Hoosier spirit and can't wait to be a part of it on and off the field."
Mijntje Hagen | Forward | Zeist, Netherlands
- Graduate of KSG de Breul.
- Played club for Schaerweijde U18-1 under coach Rudolph de Bruin.
- Led her club in scoring and was team captain.
- Her club team was ranked in the top ten in the country in 2023.
- Participated in the National Championship tournaments with her club at U12 and U14.
- Parents are Susan and Marc Hagen. Has two siblings, Joep and Mare.
- Intended Major: Psychology.
- Why IU: "I think Kayla, Dani and Leah are amazing coaches and everything they have told me about the campus, Bloomington, the opportunities and the lovely people at IU sounded great!"
Josie Naeger | Forward/Midfield | St. Louis, Mo.
- Graduate of Ursuline Academy.
- Played for high school coach and mother Roxann Naeger.
- Played club for Gateway Field Hockey under coach Kate Graft.
- In 2023, she recorded 19 goals and 19 assists as well as earning two wins as a goalkeeper.
- Named All-Conference First Team in 2022 and 2023, while taking second team honors in 2021 and being honored for the All-Metro Second Team in 2022.
- Her club earned first in Missouri, third in Region 10 and tenth in the nation.
- Parents are Roxaan and Darrell Naeger. Has two siblings, Maggie and Lucie.
- Intended Major: Exercise Science.
- Why IU: "I love the campus and what the school has to offer academically. The coaches at IU are amazing and I felt accepted and at home from the minute I was on campus."
Elen Nicholls | Back/Midfield | Deal, Kent (England)
- Transfer from Delaware.
- Played her freshman season at Delaware and will have three years of eligibility at Indiana.
- At Delaware, she played in all 17 games and made three starts.
- In her freshman campaign, she notched three assists and the took seven shots with three on goal.
- Graduated from St. Lawrence College for high school.
- Her St. Lawrence coach was Alastair Brogdan.
- Played club for for Knole Park Hockey Club under coach Duncan Parnis.
- Played international hockey for Wales on the U16, U18 and U21 teams.
- She has played before in the T1 Belgium U21 Euros and was recently selected to compete in the U21 Euros again in the Czech Republic.
- Won a high school national championship and her club won the U18 indoor title.
- Black belt in karate and a two-time national champion in that.
- Parents are Bethan and Gareth. Has one sibling, Mali.
- Intended Major: Political Science.
- Why IU: "The hockey and academics are challenging, and it felt like the right choice."
Brooke Ross | Goalkeeper | Winchester, Mass.
- Transfer from Holy Cross.
- Played four years and is a graduate of Holy Cross. She will have one year of eligibility at Indiana.
- At Holy Cross, she recorded 44 starts in the cage.
- In 2023, she had four shutouts, a career-high 140 saves, including a single-game high of 18 vs. Brown (Sep. 3), a 1.99 GAA and a .805 save percentage.
- Her save percentage ranked fourth in the NCAA and first in the Patriot League, she was second in the NCAA and first in the league for saves per game while also leading the NCAA and league in total saves.
- She was named 2023 Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year and earned All-Patriot League First Team honors.
- Graduate of Winchester High School.
- Played for high school coach Michelle White.
- Played club for Boston Field Hockey Club under coach Nate Coolidge.
- In high school, she was a two-time league all-star. Had a career .884 save percentage.
- Also played four years of varsity ice hockey and ultimate frisbee.
- Parents are Michelle and Peter Ross. Has two siblings, Paige and Samantha.
- Intended Major: Masters of Public Affairs.
- Why IU: "Highest ranked Masters of Public Affairs program in the country, Big Ten athletics, super nice staff and team."
Keke Sluiter | Midfielder | Nieuew-Vennep, Netherlands
- Graduate of Haarlemmerlyceum TTO.
- Played club for Hurley MO16-1, Amsterdam under coach Martijn Pelser.
- Scored 51 goals in the 2023-24 indoor season.
- Her club took silver in the 2023-24 indoor national championship and won gold in the 2022-23 indoor national championship.
- Parents are Judith Sluiter-Post and Rutger Sluiter.
- Has two siblings, Fiene, and her twin Hidde.
- Intended Major: Hospitality, Tourism and Event Management.
- Why IU: "It has a beautiful campus and excellent academic and sport environment."
Iman Aicha Tabbai Marzocca | Forward | Tandil, Argentina
- Graduate of Colegio Santo Domingo.
- Played club for Los Cardos.
- Earned standard-bearer/flag-bearer, an award given to the best scholastic senior.
- Won 2021 Player of the Year for her club performance.
- Has represented her city team (Federación Tandilense) from 2017 – 2023 in all age ranges from U14 to senior level in different regional and national tournaments.
- Four-time local club champion (2018, 2019, 2021, 2022). Two-time regional club champion (2018, 2022). In 2023, her club finished third in the national tournament.
- Her mother is Victoria Marzocca. Has two siblings, Sofia and Aziz.
- Intended Major: Fitness and Wellness.
- Why IU: "I chose IU because it offers a well-rounded experience that combines academic excellence with a rich athletic program, which I believe will help me excel both on and off the field. Moreover, I think that it will help me pursue my athletic dream of playing field hockey at the highest level achievable thanks to the top-notch facilities, supportive coaches with expertise, the vibrant community and the numerous opportunities for personal growth and development. I'm excited to start this once in a life experience in such incredible university!"
Morgan Qualls | Back | Randallstown, Md.
- Graduate of Garrison Forest School.
- Played for high school coach Tamika Smith.
- Played club for Warhawks Field Hockey Club under coach Candice Russ.
- Won two IAAM conference championships in high school (2022, 2023).
- Named to IAAM All-Conference team in 2022 and 2023, 2022 All-State First Team, 2022 NCC All-Star Team.
- 2021 Nexus Championship and 2021 AAU Junior Olympics selection.
- Her club got fifth at the National Club Championships in 2022 and 15th in 2023.
- Parents are Dexter and Kimberly Qualls. Has one sibling, Madison.
- Intended major: Exercise Science.
- Why IU: "I felt so welcomed by everyone, especially the team and coaches. As soon as I arrived in Bloomington, it felt like my second home."
