Summer Ball Assignments Announced

With the college baseball season wrapped up for Indiana, its returning players will be departing for the summer to various summer ball locations across the country. The summer is used as an opportunity for young players to get more reps and develop their craft in a baseball-only environment during the months of June, July and August.
In previous years, the Hoosiers have seen their young stars shine on the biggest stage in some of the nation's best summer ball leagues. Devin Taylor was the NECBL Newcomer of the Year in 2023 while Tyler Cerny was an Appalachian League All-Star last year. Both Carter Mathison and Brock Tibbitts thrived in the Cape Cod Baseball League after their sophomore campaigns.
A strong collection of Hoosier talent, led by the likes of Taylor and Cerny, will head out to the Cape. Atleast seven IU players will spend parts of their summer in the prestigious league that has produced the likes of Evan Longoria and Matt Wieters. Cerny and Taylor, a dangerous sophomore duo for IU, will team up for the Cotuit Kettleers.Â
The Hoosiers' younger talent such as Andrew Wiggins (NECBL), Jasen Oliver (Northwoods League) and TJ Schuyler (Appalachian League) will spread out across the country to get more reps before returning to campus for fall practice in August.
