BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – For the first time in program history, Indiana will meet Oregon on the volleyball court. The debut matchup between the teams, set for Sept. 28 in Eugene, will be picked up as a wild card selection by the Big Ten Network. The Saturday night volleyball contest will have a first serve of 8:30 PM ET.
IU's contest against the Ducks is part of an expanded national television schedule with the conference going to 18 teams. The Hoosiers will now be featured on either Big Ten Network or FS1 on seven occasions this season. Earlier this year, IU played the two-time defending national champions on the SEC Network. The eight national television matches are the most in a single season in program history.
The Hoosiers will head to the Pacific Northwest to open Big Ten play next weekend (Sept. 27-28). IU will play Washington for the second-straight year on Friday (Sept. 27) before flying to Eugene (Sept. 28) for the first-ever meeting against Oregon.
IU will be searching for its first win against any of the four Big Ten newcomers when it heads to Seattle to open conference play. The Hoosiers are 0-2 against USC and 0-1 against both UCLA and Washington. Oregon is the last of the 17 Big Ten opponents with no history against IU.
Head coach Steve Aird and his team will take on Notre Dame in a home-and-home series this weekend before diving into conference play. Through eight games on the year, IU has a 6-2 record.
