Jan. 22, 2025
• The Indiana Men's Basketball team (14-6, 5-4 B1G) dropped a road contest to Northwestern, 79-70, on Wednesday (Jan. 22) evening at Welsh-Ryan Arena in Evanston.
• The Hoosiers ended the first half on an 18-2 run, holding the Wildcats without a bucket for the final 9:35 of the opening frame. Six different IU players scored a point during the run.
• Sixth-year senior center Oumar Ballo scored 15 points. He added seven rebounds and a career high seven assists. He played 36 of 40 minutes on the night.
• Ballo scored in double figures for the seventh-straight game. It's his longest stretch of consecutive contests with 10+ points (7) since doing so 10 times between January 27th and March 2nd in 2024 at Arizona.
• He's now scored 10+ points in eight of nine Big Ten contests including each one since the turn of the new year. In the 2025 calendar year, he's averaging 18.1 points per game.
• Senior forward Luke Goode added 14 points and four rebounds. He connected on 5-of-8 field goals and 4-of-5 3-point attempts.
• Goode has now scored at least 10 points in three-consecutive games. It's the first time in his collegiate career he's reached double figures on three-straight occasions.
• He's knocked down three-or-more 3-point field goals on six occasions in Big Ten play this season. Goode has hit the mark in five of the last seven league games.
• It's the first time he's connected on four 3-point field goals in consecutive games since doing so at Illinois last year against Marquette (Nov. 10, 2023) and Valparaiso (Nov. 17, 2023).
• Sophomore forward Mackenzie Mgbako led the way offensively with 20 points. He connected on 8-of-14 field goal attempts and knocked down three 3-point baskets. He also grabbed five rebounds.
• Mgbako scored in double figures for the 11th time this season but the first time since scoring 20 in a road win at Penn State on January 5th, 2025. It was his fourth 20-point outing of the campaign.
• Redshirt sophomore guard Myles Rice was the fourth IU player in double figures. He added 11 points and pulled down four rebounds.
• Fifth-year senior guard Trey Galloway scored seven points and dished out five assists. He played 25 minutes in reserve.
• Sophomore guard Kanaan Carlyle recorded two assists on the night.
• Junior forward Malik Reneau made his return to the court for the first time since Jan. 2, 2025 (Rutgers). He played 11 minutes and scored two points. He added three rebounds.
• Fifth-year senior guard Anthony Leal made his second-consecutive start. He scored one point and added five rebounds and three assists.
• Up Next: IU returns home for the first time in 12 days on Sunday (Jan. 26) afternoon. The Hoosiers will host Maryland at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall at Noon on CBS.
