BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana track and field concluded the first day of the Crossroads of America Invitational on Friday (January 24) at the Fall Creek Pavilion with many personal bests on the day.
"Our kids seemed to be winning races or setting personal bests," said assistant coach Andrew Poore. "Whether it was in the sprints, the middle distance races, the jumps, or the throws we had a lot of Hoosiers advancing through finals. But more importantly, within their individual sections, they seemed to be at the front of their event.
Day one started with the women's weight throw. Hannah Alexander (19.24m/63-1.5) continued her strong start with her third-straight performance of over 19 meters. Bridget Beyer also had a great showing, posting a career long 18.03m/59-2 on her third attempt.
John Colquitt (8.06) finished fourth in the 60-meter hurdles prelims to advance to the finals tomorrow.
In the 60 meter prelims, Tamer Saleh (6.78) and Trelee Banks-Rose (6.80) ran the top times on the men's side, while Kristina Vincic ran a personal-best 7.63 on the women's side.
The women's 600 meter saw four Hoosiers win their respective heats and all finish in the top 10. Amelia Dodds (1:31.17) won the overall event, followed by Nola Somers Glenn (1:33.81) in fourth, Ryann Parrish (1:34.13) in sixth, and Cambell Wamsley (1:34.63) in ninth.
Banks-Rose and Saleh continued their strong days with top five finishes in the 200 meter race. The two finished third (21.12) and fourth (21.18) respectively in the event.
