Jan. 31, 2025
• The Indiana Men's Basketball team (14-8, 5-6 B1G) fell 81-76 to #10/10 Purdue on Friday (Jan. 31) night at Mackey Arena. Purdue hit a game-winning shot with just 11 seconds on the clock.
• IU held a 32-26 advantage on the boards and a 12-10 advantage on the offensive glass. It was the fourth-straight game that the Hoosiers recorded double-digit offensive rebounds.
• The Hoosiers held Purdue to just two made 3-point field goals, matching the Boilermakers' season low. It was the first time the hosts shot under 20.0% from beyond the arc in Mackey Arena this year.
• IU's biggest stretch of the game came on a 12-0 run between the under-12 and under-8 timeouts in the second half. The 12-point swing was sparked by Mackenzie Mgbako chase down block and 3-point basket on the other end. The run lasted over five minutes of game time and handed IU a five-point lead with under eight to play.
• Sophomore forward Mackenzie Mgbako scored 25 points on 10-for-17 shooting from the floor. He grabbed five rebounds and knocked down three 3-point field goals.
• Mgbako scored in double figures for the third-straight game. It was his first time doing so since from Nov. 28 – Dec. 3, 2024. He last did it in three-straight Big Ten games when he ended the 2023-24 season on six-consecutive games with 10+ points.
• The Gladstone, N.J. native recorded his fifth 20-point game of the season and the eighth of his career. It was his third game this season with at least 25 points.
• He scored 14 points in the second half and converted on five field goals in each of the two halves. It was the first time he hit 10 field goals from the floor since the season opener against SIUE (13 – Nov. 6, 2024).
• Sixth-year senior center Oumar Ballo provided 14 points on 6-for-7 shooting. He grabbed eight rebounds and added two assists. He played 35 of the possible 40 minutes before fouling out late in the game.
• Ballo has scored in double figures on nine-straight occasions. Since the turn of the calendar year, he's had at least 10 points in every contest.
• Senior forward Luke Goode scored 13 points, all coming in the first half. He played 34 minutes and was +4 when he was on the floor.
• Goode scored in double figures for the fourth time in the last five games. He's reached at least eight points in six-straight Big Ten contests. He's averaging 12.3 points per game in the month of January.
• He connected on at least three 3-point field goals for the seventh time in conference play. Since the beginning of the new year, he's knocked down 25 shots from beyond the arc.
• Fifth-year senior guard Trey Galloway provided 15 points in 26 minutes of action. He dished out five assists and grabbed three rebounds.
• Galloway scored in double figures for the first time since Jan. 14, 2025 vs. Illinois (10). It's the first time he did so off the bench since Nov. 16, 2024 vs. South Carolina (11).
• His 15 points were the most he's ever scored in a reserve role during his time with the Hoosiers.
• Fifth-year senior guard Anthony Leal scored six points. He grabbed five rebounds and dished out four assists. Leal played 35 minutes in the contest before fouling out.
• His 35 minutes matched a career high, last done in a contest at Wisconsin on Jan. 7, 2021. It was the fourth time this season he played at least 25 minutes.
• Redshirt sophomore guard Myles Rice had two rebounds and one assist.
• Junior forward Malik Reneau scored three points and grabbed two rebounds.
• Senior center Langdon Hatton played three minutes in the first half. He had three rebounds and an assist.
• Up Next: IU has a quick turnaround on the road. The Hoosiers head to Madison next Tuesday (Feb. 3) to play Wisconsin at the Kohl Center. First tip is set for 9:00 p.m. on Peacock.
