Indiana vs. USC
Jan. 8, 2025
• The (RV/-) Indiana Men's Basketball team (13-3, 4-1 B1G) picked up its fifth-straight win and third-straight win in Big Ten play with an 82-69 victory over USC on Wednesday (Jan. 8) evening at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.
• It's IU's best start to the conference season (4-1) in Big Ten play since opening conference action with seven-straight wins (7-0) in the 2015-16 Big Ten Championship season.
• The Hoosiers remain perfect at home, their best start to a home campaign (10-0) since beginning the 2021-22 season 12-0 at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.
• IU's defense held USC to just 41.0% shooting from the floor and 23.1% (6-26) from beyond the arc. In the second half, those numbers dropped to 34.5% and 16.7%, respectively.
• The home team had an advantage in nearly every major statistical category. The Hoosiers outpaced the visiting Trojans in rebounds (40-33), assists (17-15) and field goal percentage (43.9%-41.0%).
• IU had just six turnovers in Wednesday's win. It's the third time in four games the Hoosiers have had eight-or-fewer turnovers. It's the fewest number of giveaways since a win over Ohio State last year (4 - Jan. 6, 2024).
• Sixth-year senior center Oumar Ballo was dominant on the offensive end with 23 points and eight rebounds. He shot 9-for-11 from the field (81.8%), the third time this year he's connected on nine-plus field goals.
• Ballo scored in double figures for the ninth time this season and the third-straight contest. It was his first time with back-to-back 20-point outings since 2022 while at Arizona – vs. Creighton, Nov. 23, 2022 (30) and at Utah, Dec, 1, 2022 (22).
• Senior forward Luke Goode added 16 points for the Hoosiers, hitting on four-plus 3-point field goals for the second time this season. He's averaging 11.3 points per game since joining the starting lineup against Winthrop (Dec. 29).
• It was his third time scoring in double digits this season. It's the first time he's scored 10+ in back-to-back games since 2023 with Illinois - vs. Marquette, Nov. 14, 2023 (13) and vs. Valparaiso, Nov. 17, 2023 (13).
• Redshirt sophomore guard Myles Rice finished just shy of a 20-point outing, scoring 19 points in the win. He added nine rebounds and dished out six assists in 33 minutes.
• The Hoosiers are 8-1 this year when Rice scores in double figures. IU is also 7-0 when he distributes at least four assists in an outing this campaign.
• Fifth-year senior guard Trey Galloway provided 11 points and added six assists. He played 31 minutes for the Hoosiers.
• Freshman forward Bryson Tucker scored nine points off the bench and grabbed four rebounds. The Hoosiers are undefeated this year (7-0) when the freshman scores at least eight points in reserve.
• Sophomore forward Mackenzie Mgbako added a rebound and a pair of assists for the Hoosiers.
• Fifth-year senior guard Anthony Leal scored one point in five minutes of run.
• Sophomore guard Kanaan Carlyle connected on a 3-point field goal in the first half. He also had two rebounds.
• Senior center Langdon Hatton had one assist and one rebound off the bench.
