BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana baseball program will be busy as fall weather kicks into full swing. This stretch of events includes IU's return to Bart Kaufman Field to play its lone fall exhibition on home turf. Head coach Jeff Mercer and company will host Xavier on Sunday (Oct. 19) afternoon (1 p.m.) for a 14-inning contest in Bloomington.
IU made its fall debut two weeks ago at Grand Park in Westfield, battling Ball State in a near six-hour scrimmage. The Hoosiers held out some veteran arms to allow most of their freshmen a chance at taking the field in college for the first time. Senior pitcher Jackson Bergman and sophomore southpaw Brayton Thomas were bright spots in the contest against Ball State.
On top of IU's scrimmage with Xavier, the program will also host its annual Golf Outing on Friday (Oct. 17) at the Pfau Course in Bloomington. Breakfast begins at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start at 10:30 a.m. All details and registration will be handled through IU's Director of Baseball Operations – Morgan Colopy (mcolopy@iu.edu).
IU's most interactive event in October will come just a handful of days before Halloween. The Hoosiers will host their second annual "Boo at the Bart" event – welcoming kids and families to collect candy, play games and interact with the 2026 team. The event will run from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Bart Kaufman Field with all people encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes.
