Indiana Leaves Michigan State Open with Six Placers

EAST LANSING, Mich. ––– Indiana Wrestling finished competition at the Michigan State Open on Saturday (Nov. 8) with 13 Hoosiers competing.
Nearly half of the Indiana wrestlers would finish on the podium as six Hoosiers placed. Jackson Blum (133) took second, Lucas Peters (141) and Hunter Sturgill (149) got fourth place, Gavin Jendreas (133) got fifth and Blaine Frazier (133) and Anthony Isek (125) each got sixth place.
No team scoring was taken for the tournament.
KEY MOMENTS
• Blum rattled off three straight wins before narrowly falling in the championship bout to No. 28 Markel Baker (Northern Illinois) in a close, 4-2 decision.
• Jendreas' first career win came by fall (3:33) over Findlay's Wyatt Nemitz.
• Lucas Peters opened the tournament with a close victory in Sudden Victory, defeating Ismael Ayoub (Kent State), 4-1.
• Ryan Garvick won his opening match in an 11-2 major decision over Kavan Troy (Northern Illinois).
