Indiana vs. No. 13/14 Purdue
Feb. 23, 2025
• The Indiana men's basketball team (16-11, 7-9 B1G) topped in-state rival and No. 13/14 Purdue (19-9, 11-6 B1G) by a score of 73-58 on Sunday, Feb. 23, at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.
• The Hoosiers trailed 37-25 at the halftime break but flipped the script to outscore the visitors by a tally of 48-21 in the second half. IU seized control of the game in the opening 10 minutes of the second stanza with a 28-3 extended run.
• For the fourth straight contest, IU coughed up fewer than 10 turnovers. The stretch is the longest by a Hoosier team in the play-by-play database (dating back to the 1997-98 season). The Hoosiers have averaged 7.8 turnovers per game over the last four.
• Indiana forced 16, the highest Boiler figure since committing 16 turnovers against No. 17 Texas A&M on Dec. 14, 2024. The Hoosiers cashed the extra possessions into 23 points.
• IU held advantages in paint points (44-18) and points off turnovers (23-12).
• Indiana head coach Mike Woodson earned his fourth victory against Purdue in his four seasons patrolling the sideline.
• Junior forward Malik Reneau became the 55th player in program history to eclipse 1,000 career points after he posted 15 points, six rebounds, four assists, one steal, and one block.
• Reneau was a perfect 7-for-7 from the floor. He is the 18th Hoosier all time and first since De'Ron Davis at Michigan (2/16) in 2020 to hit every shot from the field with a minimum of seven attempts in the game.
• Over the last four contests, the Miami, Fla., native has averaged 16.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 3.3 assists. He has shot 57.4% (27-for-47) from the floor over that stretch.
• Fifth-year senior guard Trey Galloway added 15 points, nine assists, and four rebounds. The game marked his seventh career game with at least eight assists and first since Eastern Illinois on Nov. 10, 2024. The Hoosiers are 6-1 in those games.
• Redshirt sophomore guard Myles Rice charted 12 points, two rebounds, and three steals in his return to the starting lineup.
• Sixth-year senior center Oumar Ballo produced 12 points, five rebounds, and one block in 23 minutes off the bench.
• Senior forward Luke Goode scored 11 points in 33 minutes.
• Fifth-year senior guard Anthony Leal chipped in eight points, five rebounds, four assists, three steals, and two blocks. He matched career highs in both steals and blocks.
• Sophomore forward Mackenzie Mgbako played nine minutes, while sophomore guard Kanaan Carlyle saw seven minutes of run off the bench.
• Indiana will host Penn State at 8:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday, Feb. 26, at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall on BTN.
