BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana Volleyball team will host defending NCAA national runner-up, Louisville, in a spring exhibition at Wilkinson Hall on Saturday, April 5th at 6:00 p.m. The game will be open to the public with tickets going on sale today (Feb. 28).
The two sides have agreed to play four full sets to 25 points. There is potential for a fifth set to be played to 15. It will be the first spring home exhibition at Wilkinson Hall that's open to the public since the end of the COVID-19 restrictions.
"We are excited to host a spring match on April 5th," head coach Steve Aird said. "Louisville had a fantastic season and we feel it will be a great event for fans of both programs. Our returning core has been training hard and we are proud of their growth. It is a great opportunity for us to compete before we bring in some exceptional talent this summer. The support from the community and our student section has been incredible and we hope they are excited to get back to Wilkinson Hall."
Louisville will make the trip to Bloomington under new head coach Dan Meske. After eight seasons as the associate coach, Meske takes over the program for the now Nebraska boss, Dani Busboom-Kelly. IU and Louisville last played in the regular season in 2008. The two sides played every season from 1989 to 1994.
IU will have a new look roster in the fall; with at least five freshmen and multiple transfers arriving this summer. However, fans will see familiar faces against the Cardinals in outside hitter Candela Alonso-Corcelles, opposite hitter Avry Tatum and middle blocker Madi Sell.
All ticket sales will be general admission. Tickets are 10 dollars for adults and five dollars for youth. All students and faculty get in for free with valid IU ID. Doors will open one hour before the game.
