SAN DIEGO, Calif. – No. 17 Indiana water polo was victorious in both outings on Saturday against No. 12 Princeton (14-13) and Cal State Fullerton (13-7) at the Aztec Invitational hosted by San Diego State. The Hoosiers improved to 14-6 overall.

KEY MOMENTS VS. PRINCETON

The Hoosiers got multiple players active early as it took a 4-3 lead after the first with four different goal scorers in the frame.
Outscoring the Tigers in the second, 5-2, Indiana built up a four-goal lead at the break thanks to senior Portia Sasser who completed her hat trick in the first half and a late rebound and score from junior Louisa Downes. The lead was 9-5 at the break.
Kidd added a hat trick to open the third quarter and giving IU an 11-5 lead before the Tigers got on the board. Princeton rattled off four-straight goals to threaten in the third, but Sollie also got into hat trick territory late to give IU a 12-9 advantage.
Senior Olivia Stark connected twice in the fourth to go ahead 14-11, but Princeton came within one with 1:18 to play. Sophomore goalie Audrey Cox came up big late with two critical saves to help secure the victory.

KEY MOMENTS VS. CAL STATE FULLERTON

Kidd put Indiana up midway through the first on back-to-back goals as it took a 5-3 lead after one. Junior Grace Klingler scored off the opening sprint in the second quarter as Kidd ended up with a two more goals.
Sophomore Nancy Baylor Sefchick put the stamp on the first half with a goal with 16 seconds remaining as IU's defense also held the Titans scoreless in the second to take an 8-4 lead at the half.
Downes netted a pair in the third as Indiana continued to extend its lead, 10-4, with 6:07 left in the period. Klingler added another in the third while sophomore Natalie McCarroll added her name to the scoresheet in the fourth. Sophomore Olivia Harris also added one more for IU in the fourth for the 13-7 victory.

NOTES

IU secured back-to-back wins in the series with Princeton for the first time since 2015 as it also won the meeting in the 2024 Aztec Invitational.
Senior Portia Sasser led the way offensively against the Tigers, tying a career-high four goals in the win. She was joined by Kidd with a hat trick.
Cox added eight saves in goal in the second half vs. Princeton.
Three players had two assists each with junior goalie Jasmine Higgs, sophomore Gwenyth Le and Downes all recording a pair. Downes led the way with three swipes for Indiana.
Kidd scored four goals in the win over Fullerton, making it her 13^th multi-goal game of the year. Downes also recorded a hat trick.
Junior Savannah Batchelor, Kidd and Downes each had three steals.
Stark dished out a team-high three assists and Higgs made a team-high nine saves against Fullerton.
